Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

Safety is fundamental to everything we do

Our people and clients know that health, safety, the environment and quality (HSEQ) matter. Effective and efficient management of HSEQ aspects of our business is of prime importance as we strive to give our clients and customers extraordinary service in addition to keeping our workplaces safe and healthy for the environment and all stakeholders. Our management of HSEQ is focused not only on legal compliance but on influencing and inspiring actions and behaviours from our people.

From the most senior executive to our frontline employees, we are committed to:

  • Preventing work-related physical and psychosocial injuries and illnesses
  • Providing safe and healthy workplaces
  • Eliminating hazards and reducing occupational risks for our employees, visitors and clients, as appropriate
  • Protecting the natural environment by reducing waste and energy use and preventing pollution using innovation and process improvements
  • Striving to provide service excellence to our clients through effective quality assurance and control processes

Our response to COVID-19

Through the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of facilities and operations across Canada. We continue to monitor the situation proactively to ensure the safety of our employees, the clients we work for and the customers we serve. From the onset, we have been quick to activate appropriate pandemic response plans and strategies for the prevention and control of pathogens while continuing to provide essential services and limit interruptions to our clients’ operations.

Health & Safety Programs

Guiding Principles

Our goal is zero work-related accidents, incidents and ill health. We assess health and safety risks at every stage and empower our employees to have the courage to identify and challenge unsafe acts or conditions. This practice has proven successful in raising issues and creating a culture of awareness, openness and accountability.

To ensure the safety of our employees, clients and the public, we strictly enforce the following rules:

  • Work will not be conducted without a pre-job risk assessment and safety discussion appropriate for the level of risk
  • All persons will be trained and competent in the work they conduct
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be worn as per risk assessment and minimum site requirements
  • Emergency Response Plans are developed from a review of potential emergency scenarios, and will be in place before the commencement of work
  • We will not walk by hazards; we will intervene in a positive manner
  • We will report all hazards and incidents
  • We will continuously assess hazards, take action and control them
  • We will support health, safety and environmental practices at work, at home and in our communities

Health Like Safety program

We participate on advisory committees, stakeholder consultation opportunities and volunteering with charities that are working to improve health and safety in Canada. And, through our Health Like Safety program, we promote healthier lifestyles – helping our people better manage their well-being.

Environmental Performance

Caring for our environment, being a good neighbour and delivering best-in-class service are key priorities for the success and sustainability of our business. We work with our customers, suppliers and partners to be industry champions in reducing waste, managing use of water, energy and raw materials and protecting biodiversity wherever we operate. In our efforts to manage environmentally responsible operations, we have implemented an Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001:2015. As such, we are committed to applying stringent requirements to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment, implementing key performance indicators and complying with applicable environmental standards, legislation and other requirements associated with the sectors where we operate.

Quality Assurance & Control

Quality is in everything we do. We are committed to meeting or exceeding client expectations with respect to service delivery, satisfaction and product workmanship. We believe that quality is about trust in our services, our products and our brands. For this reason, we have implemented ISO 9001:2015 within our core operations.

At the heart of our quality mindset is our dedication to providing the leadership, support and resources our teams need to ensure that we always choose to ‘do it right, the very first time.’
